Holiday towns in East Sussex

Brighton

Brighton has a unique mix of both lively city and seaside mixed up with a unique history.  Brighton became a popular seaside resort in the Regency era when it became the home of the Prince of Wales, George IV when he built the incredible Royal Pavilion.  The beachfront  is lined with cafes, bars, boutique shops and the famous Brighton Pier with its many attractions and fairground rides.  The Lanes provide a host of fashion, antique and jewellery shops to keep you busy.  Brighton has an active arts scene from the 20th century art within the Brighton Museum & Art Gallery to the various smaller studios and galleries of the local artists and the Brighton Festival held in May.

Rye

The medieval town of Rye is perched on a hilltop and provides a historic and picturesque place to stay.  Its cobbled streets are full of interesting shops, cafes and restaurants and its location only two miles from the seafront makes it the perfect place to stay with plenty of history and heritage sites in the surrounding area.  It is also home to the maritime cinque port which dates back to the 11th century.
