About Manor House Cottage, Newick

Rated 4 star Gold Award annually since January 2014, Manor House Cottage is a 3 bedroom cottage (sleeps 5) on the southern edge of the village of Newick, set within the gardens of the owner’s grade 2* listed Elizabethan timber framed Manor House (built in the late 1580s). The cottage was converted in the 1960’s having previously been a farm building.  Situated in a Conservation Area, it is a very peaceful setting with a view from the cottage front door to Newick’s picturesque 11th century mellow sandstone church (the clock is silent!).  The south facing aspect of the cottage looks out onto its own enclosed garden with patio and lawned areas surrounded by flower borders and a beautiful magnolia tree (wonderful in late March).

Newick is a charming village with local shops (including a delicious bakery - treat yourself to fresh croissants and bread for breakfast), three gorgeous old pubs (beams and roaring fires), a classic village green and, just across the road from us, a typical Sussex cricket pitch complete with pavilion etc.  The cottage is situated down a quiet lane on the southern edge of the village, a short walk from the shops and pubs, and about half a mile from the main road (A272).

Manor House Cottage is single storey with few internal steps (one step down to the sitting room, two steps up to the twin room, otherwise all on entry level). With gas central heating throughout and carpeted floors (except kitchen and bathroom which are vinyl), it is warm and comfortable in winter, and all heating costs are included in the rental.  

The accommodation includes:-

-3 bedrooms (double, twin, single)

-Bathroom with power shower over bath; large airing cupboard

-Kitchen/dining area with seating for 6; electric cooker and hob, microwave, dishwasher, washer/drier

-Sitting room with large windows and patio door overlooking south facing garden; 32” flat screen TV with Freeview, DVD player

-Free WiFi

-South facing garden with patio area (outdoor table and chairs) and lawn, barbecue provided in summer

Bedlinen (duvets) and towels are provided (for longer stays these are changed weekly along with a quick clean of the main areas) and the costs are included within the rental.  

For families with babies we can provide cots, high chairs and a selection of toys.  There is also a good playground a short walk from the property, next to the cricket pitch.

There is plenty of parking in the lane (leads only to our house, one other and the church car park, so very quiet) and for loading/unloading there is close access from our driveway.  On site parking for disabled by arrangement.
