Little Rough, Petworth

Little Rough

About Little Rough, Petworth

The cottage has a double bedroom and small bunk-bed room with adult-sized bunk beds. It is ideally suited to a family of 3/4; or a couple who want a bit more space to spread out, but can sleep 4 adults.

Everything is on the ground floor making it ideal for anyone requiring easy access. The living room and kitchen area make an excellent open-plan space and our guests especially love the wood burner in the lounge. There is also underfloor heating throughout, so great for cosy winter breaks.

The kitchen is fully equipped with washing machine, dishwasher, oven, microwave and hob.

Between the two bedrooms there is a modern contemporary shower room. All linen and towels are provided,

Views to the front onto woodland and rear onto garden. Outside there is a small area set aside for guests use with seating for four and a Weber barbeque. There is also a picnic table in the small area of woodland that we own opposite.

Walk to the end of the driveway for the most stunning views south towards the Downs and Duncton Hill. The location is ideal for walkers and cyclists - with varied routes from the front door including heathland, farmland, woodland and up onto The South Downs, and South Downs Way. A mile to the east are Burton Mill and Chingford Ponds, tranquil 16th century hammer ponds and a microcosm of different habitats within one site managed by the Sussex Wildlife Trust. We are happy to provide maps and recommend walks for all walking abilities.

Two miles north is the historic market town of Petworth. It is best known for (National Trust) Petworth House and deer park which was landscaped by Capability Brown. Also cobbled streets and plenty of eateries, tea-shops and antique shops to poke around in.

Further afield, but all within 15-30 minutes drive are the historic towns of Midhurst (with 16th century Cowdray Ruins), Chichester (Cathedral, Fetival Theatre, shops, galleries and museums) and Arundel (Arundel Castle). We are about 20 minutes from Goodwood, 45 from Brighton and 25 from the nearest coast.

We offer both week lets ad short breaks. We have an additional large en-suite double room (with private entrance) in the adjacent house which we can offer in addition for larger parties.

Please note that this cottage is not graded by the English Tourist Board but has been given an equivalent rating of 4 stars.
